Dr. Sung Wook Chung

Updated: Apr 25, 2022

My name is Sung Wook Chung. I am Professor of Christian Theology, Director of Asian Initiative and Chair of Korean Studies Program at Denver Seminary. I am originally from South Korea and received an MDiv from Harvard and a DPhil from Oxford. I began to work at Denver Seminary in 2005.

In addition to my teaching ministry at Denver Seminary, I have been serving global churches and theological schools by teaching, preaching and publishing. In the spring of 2020, right before the outbreak of COVID 19, we launched the Korean Studies Program. My wife, Dr. In-Kyung Chung is serving KSP as its director.

By God’s grace Denver Seminary’s KSP has been enjoying exponential growth. Currently, we have about 120 students enrolled in both master’s and doctoral programs. Many KSP students are missionaries in the majority world, local pastors and lay leaders. It is a tremendous joy to train and equip them theologically and spiritually. They will make an incalculable impact upon the expansion of the Kingdom and strengthening of the church, the bride of Jesus Christ.

We are living in the last days. I hope and pray that Den Sem’s KSP will continue to contribute to paving the way for the Lord’s second coming. Maranatha!
