What is Tutoring?

Tutoring is a free, one-on-one conversation where students bring questions and concerns for improving writing or reviewing papers and collaborate with the tutor to address them. The goal is to help students think through concerns and make informed decisions about their writing. Tutoring is a great option for students who want to discuss their work and receive feedback in real time.

Following APA Style or Turabian guidelines for formatting and citations
Addressing other specific writing concerns

Who Can Receive Free Tutoring?

Graduate students at our Littleton campus as well as all global and online-only students may sign up for up to five hours of tutoring each semester with our tutor, Mike Musselman. DMin or PhD students should check with their program directors for referrals, and students enrolled at our Washington, DC, campus should contact Dr. Carla Brown for tutoring.

Ways to Receive Tutoring

Sign up for a 30- or 60-minute in-person or Zoom session by clicking on the "Sign Up Now!" button during fall and spring semesters. For tutoring outside of our regular fall and spring hours, please contact Jana Matthews.

In-person: Meet with our tutor in Library Conference Room 113.
Zoom: Students who need or prefer a video call may sign up for a Zoom session. Zoom links will be posted on the sign-up sheet prior to a scheduled appointment.
Drop by. Local students are welcome to drop in during regular tutoring hours if Mike is not with another student.

Editing Versus Tutoring: What Is the Difference?

Tutoring is free for all students, up to five hours during fall and spring semesters only. Mike provides one-on-one instruction and feedback that students apply to their writing.
Editing costs $20/hr and our editors provide direct review of research papers (eligible international students receive complimentary editing). Editing is available year round. Click here for more information and to request editing.

TUTORING INFORMATION

Fall Tutoring Hours: Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Mountain Time)

Additional times via Zoom may be scheduled upon request. If located in a time zone other than Mountain Standard and wish to schedule a Zoom session, please adjust the times accordingly.

What to Bring:

Students seeking assistance with a specific paper should bring a current draft, along with the assignment instructions, grading rubric, or relevant syllabus information, if available. These materials help Mike understand the assignment’s expectations and provide more focused feedback.
Students seeking help with a specific concern—such as citation, formatting, source integration, or another writing question—are welcome to attend without a paper or assignment materials.
