There has been a significant amount of reporting in the media this week about Zoom’s security. These range from Zoom-bombing (uninvited participants disrupting meetings) to specific security issues...As of today, with the information we have, we believe Zoom is taking swift and appropriate action to address these security issues. Zoom has suspended new feature development for 90 days to give complete attention to security updates. If you would like to read more on this, we would recommend Zoom Founder, Eric Yuan’s response.
At the beginning of the COVID crisis, the Educational Technology department set up...Moodle+Zoom integration. This greatly reduces exposure for things like Zoom-bombing, because 1) keeps those class meeting addresses inside Moodle, and 2) the module generates a unique address for every class meeting...We recommend everyone view this [the above Security Settings tutorial] and take 5-10 minutes to review your default meeting settings. If you have meetings of a more sensitive nature, you may want to adjust these settings to include waiting rooms or passwords. Like closing the door during a meeting, this is just good practice when you want to protect the privacy of a conversation.
